The BBC Bircher CleanSwitch provides a convenient and hygienic way to activate automatic doors without physically touching a switch or door handle. Using 24.125 GHz radar technology, CleanSwitch detects a deliberate hand movement within an adjustable range of 100 to 600 mm. This allows users to open the door only when required, helping reduce contact with shared surfaces while also limiting unnecessary door movements. Designed for environments with strict hygiene requirements, the CleanSwitch features a highly durable front surface that can be cleaned using standard cleaning agents and surface disinfectants. Its IP65-rated construction also supports installation in moist or wet environments. Installation is fast and straightforward, with compatibility across standard flush-mounted boxes and intuitive, tool-free setup. The switch can also be customised with different LED colours, brightness settings, operating modes, pictograms and optional branding to suit the application.

Solutions and Functions
Hygienic Activation Without Physical Contact
CleanSwitch activates an automatic entrance using a deliberate hand movement rather than physical contact. By reducing the need to touch door handles or conventional push buttons, it helps support improved hygiene in hospitals, clinics, aged care facilities, sanitary areas and commercial food preparation environments. The durable front surface can also be treated with standard cleaning products and surface disinfectants.
Flexible Visual Feedback and Customisation
The integrated LED ring provides clear visual confirmation when the switch is activated. Installers can adjust the LED colour, brightness and operating mode without tools, allowing the device to suit different environments and user requirements. White and black covers are available, along with a broad selection of pictograms for opening, closing, accessibility, hand activation and locking functions. Custom logos and pictograms can also be applied on request.
Fast Installation and Reliable Performance
CleanSwitch has been designed for quick installation into standard flush-mounted boxes. Configuration is intuitive and supported by an integrated short guide, helping installers complete commissioning efficiently. Its radar detection technology operates across an adjustable range of 0.1 to 0.6 metres, while its IP65 protection rating supports dependable performance in demanding indoor environments.

BBC Bircher CleanSwitch Contact-Free Door Activation Switch
The BBC Bircher CleanSwitch is a contact-free radar activation switch designed for automatic doors in hygiene-sensitive and design-conscious environments. A deliberate hand movement activates the entrance from up to 600 mm away, helping reduce contact with frequently touched surfaces.
Its compact design, customisable LED feedback and compatibility with standard flush-mounted boxes make it ideal for hospitals, sanitary facilities, commercial kitchens and other public access applications.
CleanSwitch uses radar technology to detect a deliberate hand movement within its detection field. Once movement is detected, the switch activates its relay output to control the connected automatic door system.
What is the detection range?
The detection range can be adjusted between 100 and 600 mm, allowing the activation distance to be matched to the installation.
What is the difference between pulse mode and toggle mode?
In pulse mode, the switch activates when a hand movement is detected. In toggle mode, the first hand movement can open the door and the second can close it, depending on the connected door control configuration.
Is CleanSwitch suitable for wet areas?
CleanSwitch is IP65 rated, providing protection against dust and water jets. This makes it suitable for sanitary areas and other moist environments when correctly installed.
